Barnsley Central MP and South Yorkshire Mayor Dan Jarvis paid a virtual visit to Shaftsbury House Care Home, to meet with staff and residents.
Commenting, Dan Jarvis said:
“It was a huge pleasure to meet with the wonderful staff and residents at Shaftsbury House.”
“I know this year has been tough on care home staff, who have been on the front-line of the fight against this wretched disease. They have risen to the challenge to provide outstanding care to some of Barnsley’s most vulnerable residents. I want to take this opportunity to send Roger Stocks and his incredible team my heartfelt thanks and gratitude.
“I also know how challenging this year has been for residents, as well as their friends and family, due to restrictions on visiting. For the first time since March, there is now light at the end of the tunnel with a vaccine being rolled out to care home staff and residents – with the promise that life will be able to return to a sense of normality in 2021.
“I have a very long-standing interest in the issue of social care – ensuring that services are properly funded and staff paid a decent wage for their hard work. I will continue to campaign for our social care sector to get the resources it needs and deserves.”
