Thank you to everyone who has sponsored me.
As you may know, all money raised has gone direct to Cancer Research UK – a charity which is very close to my heart. Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages of support, it certainly helped me get through the 26.2 miles! I managed to complete the course in 3 hours 46 minutes; given the amount of training I had done I was pretty happy with this time!
I would also particularly like to thank my constituents and all those who dug deep into their pockets in support of Cancer Research UK. Your support is greatly appreciated and was an inspiration to me – particularly between the 16 and 20 mile point when the going got tough!
I was extremely proud to run yesterday for Cancer Research UK alongside my father, Bernard. Cancer Research UK is a brilliant organisation doing incredibly important work in the fight against cancer. I am certain that with their help, we can bring forward the day when we find a cure for cancer. Their team has been extremely supportive in the lead in to the marathon and I would like to thank everyone at Cancer Research UK for the important work they do. I look forward to working with them closely in the future.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone involved in the organising and running of the Virgin London Marathon. The atmosphere along the course was incredible and the event as a whole was a fitting tribute to those affected by the Boston bombings last week. The running community and all those who turned out to support showed tremendous spirit and solidarity to get out and do their bit for the race yesterday – a race that raises so much money for worthy causes. I don’t currently plan to run the marathon next year and I think I might be a bit busy in late April 2015(!), but I will be continuing to run and to compete in and support my local ‘Park run’ in Locke Park, Barnsley.
Once again, thank you to everyone for their support. If you haven’t had the chance to sponsor me yet and you would like to do so, my JustGiving page will be live for a few more weeks: http://www.justgiving.com/danjarvismp
Thank you
Dan
