Barnsley Central MP, Dan Jarvis has confirmed the full details of his new brief as a Shadow Culture, Media and Sport Minister, where he will be working for the Rt Hon Harriet Harman QC MP.

The former paratrooper will shadow both John Penrose and the highly rated Ed Vaizey at the Department of Culture, Media and Sport.

Dan will be shading the following portfolios:

Arts

Libraries

Tourism

Heritage and the built environment

Royal Parks and the Royal Household

National Lotteries

Museums and Galleries

Creative Industries

Theatre

Opera

Orchestra

The South Yorkshire MP explained, “I am really looking forward to getting stuck into this new brief. Barnsley and South Yorkshire, is home to some of this country’s most wonderful heritage sites and Welcome to Yorkshire has been a tremendous success for our local economy. I am committed to ensuring the Labour party are speaking up on all of these important issues and holding the government to account.”

Jarvis assumes his new role with immediate effect.
