London Olympic Games 2012

Good luck and congratulations to Team GB

When Chris Hoy proudly carries the British flag into the Olympic Stadium in Stratford tonight, it will signal the start of the 30th Olympiad and the third modern Olympic Games in London.

It will also be the culmination of over ten years of planning and preparation to host, what as aptly been described as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth’.

As we get ready in Barnsley, we have a lot to be proud about. Not only will the world recorder holding, Barnsley-born, Ed Clancy be amongst British’s best hopes for a Gold medal, but our unique partnership with the host borough of Newham will ensure that the Olympic legacy will endure.

No one can fully imagine what our 542 Team GB athletes will be thinking as they walk into that stadium tonight but I know I speak for Barnsley when I say that we are very proud of them and we are backing them all the way!
