I fully support the removal of VAT on sanitary products.
Having a period is a completely natural process and the buying of sanitary products is a basic necessity, not a luxury.
In the 21st century, women with low incomes should not have to face the indignity of period poverty. We can help to prevent this by removing VAT on sanitary products, and recognising them as necessities, not luxury items.
I was pleased to see that Barnsley Football Club recently got ‘on the ball’ by providing free sanitary products for fans at Oakwell. This is a vital step in challenging the stigma of period poverty.
